Subtract the sugar and triple the spice—that’s what a healthy smoothie is made of. This chilly concoction combines a dash of exotic cardamom, a sprinkle of sweet cinnamon and a pinch of fiery cayenne for the perfect spicy-sweet flavor mixed into a rich-and-creamy, vanilla-coconut base. Froth it up with extra ice for muggy summer days, but hold onto this recipe for sweater weather. The same ingredients can be simmered on your stovetop for a rich, cocoa-like warm drink.
Spicy-Sweet Cardamom Vanilla Chiller
Ingredients
¾ cup unsweetened almond milk
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. extra virgin, unrefined coconut oil
1 tsp. cinnamon
Pinch cayenne pepper
¼ tsp. ground cardamon
½ cup crushed ice
Directions
Combine ingredients in blender. Blend until smooth and frosty.
(Note: This drink can also be served warm, like cocoa. Combine ingredients, without ice, in saucepan and heat just until bubbles appear.)
