Stale Cereal? Try This Cool Tip

Have you ever tried Barbara’s Bakery cereals? They’re really good and kids love ’em.

All the flavors are great, but I’m partial to the Peanut Butter Puffins. Note, however, that you probably won’t be able to pack them for a school snack because of the whole peanut allergy epidemic. Man, I miss the days when I could send my kids off to school with a good old PB&J in their lunchboxes!

Try Barbara’s Bakery Puffins cereal in delicious non-peanut butter flavors such as Crunchy Cocoa or Cinnamon.

You can still send some Cinnamon Puffins or Original Puffins or Honey Rice Puffins (which happen to be gluten free). No big deal.

On a recent trip to Nantucket, I had packed a big bag of Peanut Butter Puffins for the car and ferry rides, along with some Annie’s Organic Bunnyfruit Snacks (the ultimate distraction for my twin toddler boys).

But by the time we got to the island, the cereal was stale. It was a pretty humid day.

Did I chuck it? No way.

Here’s a little trick I learned from another mom. Spread the stale cereal on a cookie sheet and pop it in the oven for about 20 minutes at 350⁰F, and poof! It becomes fresh and crunchy once more.

This rescue technique also works for Robert’s American Gourmet Pirate’s Booty, another one of my kids’ favorite snacks.

Have the best day ever!

Namaste!
