Stay-Healthy Tips for Nibblers and Grazers

There are two types of dieters in the world. The first group eats three meals a day and perhaps an occasional snack. And the second group goes for the grazing approach, nibbling off and on throughout the day.

Tips for Grazers and Nibblers

One challenge with the second approach: losing weight can be tricky. When you’re snacking all day, it’s harder (and more time consuming) to keep track of exactly how much you’re eating. If you love to nibble and graze, try these tips to stay healthy and keep your weight under control.

  • Before you reach for something, pause and ask yourself if you’re really hungry. If you’re eating out of habit or boredom, try drinking a glass of water or sipping on a cup of hot herbal tea instead. For something different, try a cup of Teeccino organic chocolate herbal coffee.
  • Keep vegetables and fruit on hand, whether you’re at home or on the go. Fresh is best, but no-sugar-added dried or canned fruits or dehydrated veggies (like “cheezy” kale chips or parsnip crisps) are a low-cal option that nourish and satisfy during a snack attack.
  • Are you trying to resist eating something sweet, like a bowl of ice cream? A weird trick that can work: eat something sour, like dill pickles.
  • You can control food at home, but when you’re at work, it’s not as easy. If temptations lurk in the office vending machine or the breakroom, keep your own healthy treats in your desk. For a healthy indulgence, try a Dark Chocolate, Nuts and Sea Salt KIND bar or a naturally energizing snack bar like Greens plusbar Energy Chocolate (made with 72% cacao and loaded with superfoods).
  • On the go, traveling or shopping? Keep snacks in your car that won’t melt regardless of the temperature. You win (and you lose weight) with individual 45-calorie turkey snacks in different flavors, such as Shelton’s Gluten-Free Smoked Turkey Snack Sticks.
