The experience of achieving inner balance is a common topic lately, and this has led to increasing interest in the energetic body. The chakras — seven energy centers located along the spinal column that exist in the etheric or energetic body — come to us from Vedic tradition and are today widely recognized in many healing and spiritual practices.
While sources vary as to the specific number of chakras in the body, there are seven major chakras that are the most widely recognized. Balance in and between these areas of concentrated energy can be achieved through many different practices.
The practices of yoga and meditation are commonly connected to achieving chakra balance, but they are two among many paths to restore a sense of balance. Sensory therapies and/or experiences can be widely beneficial to our inner balance, either on their own or as complements to other balancing practices. This is the case with essential oils.
Numerous essential oils are associated with the different chakras. There are no hard and fast rules, just examples of essential oils with benefits to help you connect to your deeper wisdom and/or can help you exist in the present. When it comes to associating oils for the chakras there are guidelines and suggestions that can be followed, but the experience of achieving balance is as unique as the individual.
You need to trust your deeper inner knowledge about what brings balance to your life and use all the guides, tips and practices that make are the best fit to your life’s experience. When using essential oils, you should choose ones that speak to you — those that you find both aromatically pleasing and that connect you to the natural world — as a key first step toward achieving balance.
In my next post, I’ll discuss specifics regarding the influence of essential oils on the seven major chakras. In the meantime, you can visit the Aura Cacia Chakra Center to learn more about balancing your chakras.
