The Amazing Healing Power of Bubble Wrap

My daughter woke me up at 2 a.m. last night screaming that her leg hurt. Growing pains. I groggily took her into the bathroom, found a free bottle of Bath & Bodyworks hand lotion that had somehow ended up in there, and told her it was “magic healing lotion” and that she should keep it. She put some on and said, “Wow, that feels all better.”

(And I’m glad she took it because maybe now she’ll stop stealing stuff from my real arsenal– I don’t think a 6-year-old needs to worry about “replenishing” body lotion from CSI, thankyouverymuch!)

I don’t mean to brag, but that magic blue lotion thing was pretty smart. I think I’m becoming a real expert on non-medical cures for childhood ailments of all sorts.

A few others:

Tic Tacs, not Prozac. My 9 year old was having “the worst day of his entire life.” I bought him a box of Tic Tacs. He still hasn’t stopped thanking me. And to think I put so much thought–and money–into his last birthday present!

Bubble wrap cures all that ails. Every time my toddler cries–because he falls down and hurts himself, because his older brother won’t allow him to eat all of his marbles–there’s nothing like bubble wrap to make him smile before the tears have even dried. I wish I were that easy to cheer up!
