Beets were my least favorite vegetable as a child, but as an adult, I have discovered the wonders of beet juice. It not only tastes delicious, but it is full of health-supporting nutrients.

beet benefits

Beets belong to the same family as chard and spinach.  Beet leaves have a bitter taste like chard, but they are rich in chlorophyll. Both beet roots and beet greens are very powerful cleansers and builders of the blood.  Betacyanin is the phytochemical in beets that gives them their rich purple color. It is a rich antioxidant that helps support strong, healthy cells.

Beets are also loaded with vitamins A, B1, B2, B6 and C.  The greens have a higher content of iron than spinach and are an excellent source of calcium, magnesium, copper, phosphorus, sodium and iron. Beet root juice is a remarkable source of chlorine, folic acid, iodine, manganese, organic sodium, potassium, fiber and carbohydrates in the form of natural digestible sugars. Beet root’s iron content, though not high, is of the finest quality and may help support normal blood function and cell respiration for healthy immune system and cardiovascular function.

So instead of your daily glass of orange juice in the morning, try a glass of beet juice instead!
