Vitacost Haul: Cleaning & Eating Clean

Do you run a tight ship? When it comes to trying to eat clean and keep the house clean, it’s important to stay the course. Letting laundry pile up is almost as bad as letting your health take a wrong turn. In order to maintain order, you have to surround yourself with the best of the best. For me, that means gluten-free and organic food staples to nourish my body and all-natural house cleaners to revive my home (and refresh my mood!). Here’s a small haul of the “clean” goodies I rely on time and again.

Eating Clean

I have high standards for healthy, packaged foods. Whether it be a box of spaghetti or a bag of dark chocolate chips, the ingredients must be straight forward, gluten free and preferably organic and non-GMO. And when it comes to having pantry staples on hand, I keep the sizes pretty reasonable. For one, I don’t need 10 pounds of sugar. Secondly, if I’m going to bake treats, they better taste fresh and come out with just the right texture. A 24-ounce, resealable bag of organic pure can sugar won’t go bad before I get to use it up. Same goes for powdered sugar, which I occasionally sprinkle on my popcorn for a sweet evening snack.

Cleaning Up

Even though it took a while to find natural alternatives to all of my big-brand cleaning supplies, the search has been completely worth it. The greatest (and hardest) discovery was Mrs. Meyer’s Clean Day Multi-Surface Concentrate in Lemon Verbena. This plant-based formula cleans floors, counters and even walls. The best part, though, is the long-lasting scent. Your home will smell fresh as a garden for hours and hours!
