Harmful rays from the sun can damage your skin all year round, and this time of year they can be particularly strong. Plus, sun damage can lead to wrinkles””and who wants those? (Not me!)

Ultraviolet (UV) radiation in sunlight affects skin in a number of ways, from painful sunburn to premature aging to DNA damage.

To best protect your skin, go for a high-quality sunscreen. Some of our customer favorites are: Alba Very Emollient Sunscreen Mineral Protection and    Jason  Sunbrellas Mineral Based Physical Sunblock SPF 30. My personal favorite is MyChelle  Sun Shield SPF 28  because I like that this sunblock is unscented. Plus, I love just about anything from MyChelle–one of my favorite beauty brands!

Some more TLC tips for protecting and pampering your skin:

  • Choose sunscreen with a sun protection factor (SPF) of 15 or higher that provides both UVA and UVB protection.
  • Avoid products that contain oxybenzone, vitamin A (retinyl palmitate), parabens, PABA and other artificial ingredients that can pose further health risks.
  • Apply sunscreen liberally to all exposed areas of skin–don’t forget your ears, back of your neck and tops of your feet.
  • Reapply sunscreen every two to three hours if spending extended time outdoors.
