There’s a raging debate happening in my own mind. It centers around one simple decision: How much body hair is the right amount of body hair, if any?
This is an umbrella-type of question and consists of many smaller questions. Some personal, some political, but the most important question you must ask yourself when wrestling with the fine details of hair removal is WHICH type of product is right for you. From strip wax to sugaring to razors, the answer is different for every woman and may even change depending on what body part is being depilated.
Let’s start with waxing. A great way to remove hair and stay smooth-skinned for several weeks, wax comes in various forms, the most common of which is strip wax. One of the most convenient and quick ways to do this is with pre-waxed strips. Parissa Wax makes pre-waxed strips for Leg and Body or Face and Bikini. They even have a set specifically made to meet men’s hair removal needs. These are easy to use and great for those who are new to waxing.
If you’re more experienced with the do-it-yourself hair removal, you can try sugaring. Moom makes a great sugar hair removal system. A blend of chamomile, lemon juice, tea tree oil and sugar, this organic approach to removing unwanted hair is applied similarly to wax. Once spread on the desired area, fabric strips are applied on top of the sugar and pulled off quickly, just like wax strips. This is a fantastic option for those who are vegan or looking for more natural products.
Some of us have skin that is too sensitive for the aggressive wax or sugar hair removal. For those of us who are like the delicate petals of a petunia, Parissa’s Soft Gel Hair Remover is the perfect alternative. This gel needs no heating and rinses off smooth and clean. Though the results may not last as long, if you’ve had a reaction to wax, this may be a good option for you.
Then again, a little personal grooming can go a long way. If you’re not the type to go barely there ““ or all together bare ““ that’s OK, too. A good quality trimmer, like the Philips Norelco Bikini Perfect, is all you need. A cordless, precision trimmer, that can be used wet or dry, is going to meet your needs without pushing your boundaries.
Whatever your personal style, using the right products will make the routine to remove unwanted body hair a less painful (well, sort of) process.
