Your skin definitely takes a beating during the bitter-cold winter. Even a perfect complexion can become blotchy, itchy and flaky, which is why detoxing and hydrating is never more important than it is right now. During these harsh weather conditions, using gentle, natural products — like an easy DIY facial detox mask — can transform irritated skin into a smooth and luminous look. Follow my lead…

3-Step Winter Skincare Routine

1. Remove makeup and grime with a moisturizing oil.
Mineral Fusion Makeup Removing Oil Cleanser is formulated with argan oil and is very gentle on skin.

2. Cleanse once more for good measure.
Andalou Natural 1000 Roses™ Cleansing Foam was created especially for sensitive skin. That means it’s perfect for winter, as the cold weather can cause redness and irritation. This cleanser features certified organic aloe vera, plus rose and fruit stem cells to soothe and nourish.

3. Spritz with a soothing toner.
Shea Terra Moroccan Rose Water Facial Spritz
is by far my favorite, and I’ve tried so many different rose water sprays. This toner cools your skin and helps reduce redness almost instantly.

Follow this up with an easy DIY mask…

DIY Turmeric Clay Facial Mask

I use this mask three times a week to detoxify my skin. It works to purify sensitive skin, minimizing pores, brightening scars and promoting healing. This recipe makes enough for three uses, so store leftovers covered in the fridge. If it has hardened up when you go to use it, just add a little more water or honey.

Ingredients

1 Tbsp. Wedderspoon Manuka Honey
1 ½ tsp. Moroccan Red Clay Powder
1 tsp.  European Clay Powder
¼ tsp. turmeric

Directions

  1. Mix with water until you reach a thick but smooth paste.
  2. Apply with a brush or fingertips.
  3. Let dry on skin for at least 10 minutes before rinsing.
  4. If skin feels tight, follow with a hydrating mask.
