Do yourself a favor and take your body to the cleaners. No, I’m not talking about the dry cleaners, laundromat or your local car wash. I’m talking about something a little more deep — like a total cleanse for your mind, body and spirit. There’s no better way to start fresh than with a clean, healthy body. Here are two of my favorite ways to do away with the old in order to bring in the new.
A Five-Day Cleanse
A painter would never begin a new masterpiece on a used canvas. Think of you the “new you” the same way. Whether your goal is to eat healthier or start exercising, prepare your body for the positive changes ahead with a cleanse.
My favorite way to do this is with a 5-Day Fast & Cleanse Kit from Nature’s Secret. Why? It’s quick and easy: five days, five steps and one new you. Sure, it may be tough to sacrifice your usual meals for almost a week, but by the time you finish your cleanse, you’ll feel energized, refreshed and ready to start the new year.
Clay Detox Bath
Don’t have five days for a cleanse? How about 20 minutes for a detox bath? It’s easy to make your own using bentonite clay, a mineral-rich volcanic clay that’s said to draw impurities and toxins from the body.
What you’ll need:
- ½ cup bentonite clay powder or 1 Tbsp liquid bentonite clay
- ½ cup Epsom salts
- Essential oil of your choice
What to do:
If using clay powder: Dissolve Epsom salts in warm bath water and add a few drops of essential oils. In a bowl, mix the clay with a small amount of water, stirring until clumps are dissolved. Standing in the tub, rub clay over your body. Let clay dry before sitting down. Soak in the bath for at least 20 minutes or as long as you desire. While soaking, use a washcloth to wipe any remaining clay from skin.
If using liquid bentonite: Dissolve Epsom salts in warm bath water and add a few drops of essential oils. Apply liquid bentonite to a washcloth, rub over your body and let dry before sitting down in the bath. Soak in the bath for at least 20 minutes or as long as you desire. While soaking, use a washcloth to wipe any remaining bentonite from skin.
