If there’s one thing you should take personally, it’s your health. How you maintain your one-and-only body is entirely up to y-o-u! But when you’re struggling to find motivation, our Vitacost Health Raiser of the Week says it can help to look beyond yourself. Dolce recognizes that everyone’s day-to-day is different, but choosing to live healthier can positively impact everyone around you – particularly your loved ones!

What does health mean to you?
Health means taking care of your unique body. Being “healthy” is so personal. A picture of health to one person may be the complete opposite for someone else. For me, I try to do a mix of heavy lifting, CrossFit, cardio and plyometrics to stay fit. I push my body when it feels right and take it easy when I need to recover. I eat nutritious, healthy foods but also enjoy dinner dates and dessert with my boyfriend.
What inspired you to start living a healthy life?
My mother suffered from a stroke, and my father battled melanoma and a brain tumor when I was younger. From then on, I realized I had to take care of my body, so I can be around for my family and my future family.
What are three things you do to stay healthy?
- I work out 4-6 times every week, incorporating both strength training and cardio.
- I eat a balanced mix of healthy foods, including protein, fats and carbs with some indulges every once in a while. It’s all about balance!
- I give myself at least one day a week of pure rest. On these days, I focus on furthering my faith, finding new, non-fitness-related hobbies and just enjoying life. The most physical activity I do on these days is take my dogs on a walk.
What is one motivational quote that you live by?
“My mission in life is not merely survive, but to thrive.” – Maya Angelou
If you were stranded on a desert island – what Vitacost product could you not live without?

What advice do you have for someone who is trying to live healthier?
Every time you lose motivation, think of all of the things you can do and all the people you can be there for by living a healthy life. Tell yourself, “If I live a healthy life, I can finally do a 5k!” Or “If I live a healthy life, I might live longer so I can be there for my family when they need me.”
Is there a role model you look up to?
I look up to my best friend, Olivia. She lives such a hectic, busy life and has faced more trials than many people have or should ever have to. Yet, she still makes her health a priority and kills it in the gym! She also lost more than 60 pounds in high school (and has kept it off)! She’s my soul sister and I love her.
