Zesty Black Bean Hummus

You can’t go wrong with hummus. Whether spread on a sandwich or used as a dip, hummus is a nutritious addition to your snack or meal. Want to kick it up a notch? Step up your dunking game with this Tex-Mex-inspired version. Traditional chickpeas, tahini and garlic are infused with black beans, lime and chili powder, adding Southwestern flair to the Middle Eastern favorite. Dip in!

Zesty Black Bean Hummus

Ingredients

1½ cups canned chickpeas, rinsed and drained
1½ cups canned black beans, rinsed and drained
2 tsp. chili powder or cumin
1 tsp. garlic powder or 2 cloves
Salt & pepper, to taste
3 Tbsp. tahini
3 Tbsp. water
1 lime, juiced and zested

Directions

  1. In a blender or food processor, combine all ingredients, adding water in slowly, a tablespoon at a time. Process until combined and smoothed, scraping down the sides as necessary.
  2. Transfer hummus to an airtight container and let sit in the fridge to cool.
