Let me tell you about the most intense exercise you will ever try. It’s called Bikram yoga (hot yoga). The first time I tried it, I brought a friend along so we could both have the experience together ““ we no longer speak.   I knew the room would be hot, but nothing can really prepare you for 90 minutes of 105-degree heat with no way to escape.

Nothing about this practice is easy; even the warm up is excruciating. There are 26 poses, each designed to cleanse your body. Many of the postures massage the lymphatic system and aid in lymphatic drainage, assisting to eliminate infection, bacteria, and toxins ““ you aren’t sweating your butt off for nothing! Yes, you’ll be hot, and you might even feel dizzy – especially your first time. But there really is nothing you can do but lie on your yoga mat, breathe through your nose and take it all in. After 90 minutes and 630 expended calories, class is over.

But no matter what kind of experience you had inside the room, there is something about Bikram yoga that grabs hold of you and makes you want to come back again and again.

If you are adventurous or just want to try something new (and don’t mind sweating profusely) ““ Bikram yoga is for you!
