Can’t live without chocolate? Whether you eat one small piece a day or you’d rather give up sleep than chocolate, it’s time to face the facts. With conventional chocolate bars packed with tons of sugar, corn syrup, artificial colors and preservatives, there are more than a few reasons to cut the candy from your life. When a craving strikes (as they often do), turn to a healthy, nutrient-rich option, like this cacao bar. Free of processed junk, this intense, chocolaty treat is completely guilt-free.
Cacao Hazelnut Bar
Serves 8
Ingredients
1 cup cacao butter
3 Tbsp. Vitacost Raw Honey (or maple syrup for vegan)
2 Tbsp. cacao powder
1 cup Jem Hazelnut Cacao Butter
½ cup whole, raw Vitacost Hazelnuts
Directions
- Melt the cacao butter either in the sun or very low heat on the stove.
- In a bowl, combine the melted cacao butter, cacao powder and honey. Stir until thoroughly blended.
- Add the hazelnut butter and stir until smooth. (Optional: pour mixture into a blender and process until smooth, if necessary.)
- Add the whole hazelnuts to the chocolate and mix until fully incorporated.
- Pour the mixture into chocolate molds or a baking dish. Set in the freezer for at least 30 minutes, or until fully hardened. Store leftovers in the fridge or freezer.
Tip: Roast the hazelnuts in the oven before adding to the chocolate mixture.
