Celebrate What Really Matters

Quote of the day:

“There is a great need for the introduction of new values in our society, where bigger is not necessarily better, where slower can be faster, and where less can be more.”

-Gaylord Nelson

April 22nd is Earth Day. What are you gonna do to celebrate our Earth?

Many things””anything””can get lost in the day-to-day. We can forget to spend quality “non-productive” time with the ones we love. We can be “too busy” with deadlines and what have you to carve out time with friends. We can ignore our body’s signals and not get enough sleep. We can eat poorly. We can bag the gym. We can let our yoga mat get dusty from lack of use.

I see this day in and day out with my students. And I help them to remember who they are. To revisit their authentic selves. To find the balance so essential to living the best life ever.

You ain’t gonna remember that email in a year, or maybe even a week. You ain’t gonna be making a photo album about the hours you spent on that presentation. And honestly, as I told one of my students a few weeks ago, whether you graduate with your doctorate this spring or next fall won’t amount to a hill o’ beans five years from now.

We have so much attachment in the moment to having things a certain way, to getting things done, to being efficient and productive, that we forget what’s REALLY important. And we take things for granted.

Our Earth is important. Get out on April 22nd and celebrate her.

Have the best day ever!

Namaste!
