It’s the dessert you order at the finest restaurant in town. Even at that, cheesecake is usually a treat “for special occasions only.” But turned into a seemingly ordinary chocolate chip cookie, this rich dessert suddenly becomes a lot more accessible. Reservations not required.

Chocolate Chip Cheesecake Cookies

Makes 15 cookies

Ingredients

1 scoop ARO Natural Vanilla Whey Protein Plus Powder
½ cup whole wheat pastry flour or oat flour
¼ cup almond flour
¼ cup Vitacost Xylitol
¼ tsp. baking powder
3 Tbsp. plain Greek yogurt
2 Tbsp. plain, low-fat cream cheese, softened
¼ cup sugar-free chocolate chips
½ tsp. vanilla extract
2 egg whites

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 325 degrees F and line a baking sheet with foil. Coat foil with non-stick cooking spray.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, stir together protein powder, flours, xylitol and baking powder until thoroughly mixed.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together yogurt, cream cheese, vanilla extract and egg whites.
  4. Pour wet mixture into dry, stirring together until well combined.
  5. Stir in chocolate chips and place cookie dough in the fridge for about 30 minutes.
  6. Using a small ice cream scoop or your hands, form small balls of cookie dough and place on prepared baking sheet. Makes about 15 cookies.
  7. Bake 10-12 minutes, or until edges begin to turn golden. Let cool before enjoying.
