Doughnuts made with oat flour offer a “hole” new meaning to whole grains for breakfast. Skip the mushy oatmeal and the cereal that tastes like twigs, because you can get much the same benefits from a sugary circle of nourishing carbs. It’s the whole truth and nothing but. These sweet cinnamon treats are a completely filling, protein-packed morning meal. Seriously, your nutritious diet won’t be missing a thing!

Cinnamon-Sugar Protein Donuts Recipe

Cinnamon-Sugar Protein Doughnuts

Ingredients

½ cup oat flour (or ground rolled oats)
2 scoops vanilla cupcake protein powder
1/3 cup coconut sugar
1 tsp. cinnamon
½ tsp. baking powder
½ cup unsweetened applesauce
1 egg

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F and coat a doughnut pan with non-stick cooking spray or coconut oil.
  2. In a stand mixer (or using a hand mixer in a large bowl), stir together all ingredients until smooth and well combined.
  3. Pour batter into greased doughnut pan. Sprinkle with extra cinnamon and sugar, if desired.
  4. Bake about 20 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.

Note: You could turn this into a muffins recipe by simply pouring the batter into a greased or paper-lined muffin pan. Bake time is approximately the same.
