DIY Gingerbread Dog Treats

They definitely made Santa’s “nice” list this year. So treat your furry family members to a special gift this holiday season! These DIY dog treats are baked up with the most wholesome, safe ingredients – no refined sugar, artificial sweeteners, salt or cocoa in this recipe! The just-like-gingerbread flavor comes from a mixture of sweet potato puree, peanut butter and pure, organic molasses. Shape the dough into mini bones for extra-festive presentation.

Ingredients

1-1/2 cups quick oats or rolled oats
2 Tbsp. organic molasses
2 tsp. pure maple syrup
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. ginger
1/2 cup sweet potato puree, burtternut squash puree or pumpkin puree
2 Tbsp. creamy peanut butter 

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Line baking sheet with parchment paper
  2. In food processor, blend all ingredients to thick dough consistency. 
  3. Use hands to shape dough into cookie-like balls; arrange on baking sheet.
  4. Bake treats for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown. Let cool 15 minutes before serving. 

(Note: Treats should be kept no longer than one day at room temperature. Store in refrigerator for up to a week. Treats may also be frozen for up to a month; thaw before use.)
