Frozen Water

Prep Time 2 hours
Cook Time 4 hours
Total Time 6 hours
Servings 2

Ingredients

  • 1 gal. water warm
  • 1 gal. water cold
  • Lukewarm water as needed

Instructions

  1. In large bowl, fill 3/4 full with warm tap water.
  2. Empty 1/2 of bowl into sink and fill remainder of bowl with cold water.
  3. Using saran wrap or cling wrap, cover bowl so it is airtight and place on counter. Allow liquid to become room temperature overnight.
  4. Prepare silicone mold tray by cleaning each mold with damp paper towel. Allow tray to dry before putting water in.
  5. Once dry, using baster or eye dropper, slowly fill each silicone mold with water until mold is 3/4 full. Note: Be careful not to add too much water to each mold as water will overflow.
  6. Set ice chest to 32 degrees F and carefully transfer silicone tray to chest.
  7. Gently place tray in the back of chest.
  8. Close chest and check every 30 minutes to ensure water has not over-hardened.
  9. After 3-4 hours, remove silicone tray from ice chest and place toothpick in center. Toothpick should not be able to penetrate frozen water.
  10. Once water is hard, transfer silicone tray to sink.
  11. Turn faucet on so water is Luke-warm. Allow slow drizzle of Luke-warm water to release frozen water from silicone molds.
  12. Remove each piece of frozen water and transfer to bowl and cover in airtight container.
  13. Add 3-4 pieces of frozen water to cup and pour your favorite beverage atop.
  14. Transfer any remaining frozen water back to ice chest. Frozen water should keep for up to 1 lifetime.
