The list of people we give gifts to seems to get longer each year, with new names added to your list like dance instructor, teacher’s aid and new best friend because Littlest is in first grade now, etc (OK, maybe that’s just me, but you get it).
While I love to spread holiday cheer, I don’t want to be so bogged down in shopping and errands that I forfeit enjoying time with my family and friends. When I need a few gifts that are more personal than a gift card but not as labor-intensive as needlepoint cameos of each family member, I put together some cute and slightly kitschy holiday gifts like these Hot Cocoa Cup o’Cheer mugs.
DIY Holiday Cup O’ Cheer
You’ll need:
2-4 glass mason jars with lids
1 container of organic hot cocoa mix
1 bag gluten-free marshmallows
1 bag mini chocolate peppermint bars
Twine
Recycled paper
To Assemble:
- Remove lids from all jars. Wash with dish soap and dry.
- Scoop 2-3 tablespoons of hot cocoa mix into the bottom of the jar. Place 3-4 large marshmallows on top of the mix. Then, fit in a mini chocolate peppermint bar (still wrapped) either round or on top of the marshmallows.
- Close the lid tightly and tie twine around the neck of the jar. Make a personalized tag with a cute saying or simply write Hot Cocoa Cup o’Cheer and you’re done!
Fast, easy, and adorable, this cute gift of holiday warmth is great for everyone, young and old.
