DIY Spicy Dry Salsa

Welcome to your new obsession: dry salsa. If you haven’t heard—yes—this condiment is the next big thing. Trust us when we say that your love for salsa is about to get even more real.

Unlike most packaged salsas, this version doesn’t contain any yucky preservatives—it’s also free of soy and gluten.

This spicy concoction is a mix of dried chilies, raw seeds and avocado oil. Enjoy it the old-fashioned way with tortilla chips or use it to create new foodies favorites! We’re loving it on avocado toast, tacos and sprinkled on top of tofu scramble.

Ingredients

4 Tbsp. avocado oil, divided
1/4 cup Badia Arbol Chili, stems & seeds removed for mild flavor
1/4 cup Vitacost Sunflower Seeds
1/4 cup Vitacost Pumpkin Seeds
1/4 cup Now Foods Sesame Seeds
Salt & pepper to taste

Directions

  1. In pan over medium, heat 2 tablespoons avocado oil. Add chilies. Cook until aromatic; around 2-3 minutes. Reserve oil.
  2. In food processor, pulse chilies into bite-size pieces. Set aside.
  3. In pan with leftover oil over medium heat, toast pumpkin, sunflower and sesame seeds for 2 minutes.
  4. Scrape down sides of food processor and add toasted seeds, remaining avocado oil and salt and pepper to taste. Pulse until combined. Serve immediately or store in airtight container in refrigerator.
