Everything is Important. Nothing is Important.

“All that matters is that.”

Every morning while doing cardio at the Y, after teaching my daily 4:30 a.m. open-practice class at Prana Power Yoga, I organize my emails into “red heart” and “purple heart” categories. Red hearts are things I need to go over with my business partner (and husband) Philippe. Purple hearts are things I’ll take care of by myself. If something is urgent, it gets four hearts. Not as timely? Three. And so on. I do this on my iPhone while I “move energy” on the elliptical or treadmill or whatever. It’s a nice balance for me. Better than sitting at a computer.

I get so many emails (as we all do) that systematizing them this way, first thing in the morning, with a clear and calm and focused mind (I’ve just practiced), helps me to be efficient and productive and stay in the vortex all day long. What’s the vortex? The place of pure positivity and joy and creation. If you abide in the vortex, you will create and live the BEST LIFE EVER. You’re reading this, so you on the path.

A few minutes ago, I gave one purple heart to a Pottery Barn Kids email (I’m writing this blog on my iPhone on the elliptical as well), and I will look it over with my eight year old who “needs” a new lunchbox because hers is now “too babyish.” Then I started thinking, “this is just as important to me as any of the quadruple red or purple heart messages. Everything is important. It’s just that the quadruple heart messages are more ‘time sensitive.'”

Yet, nothing is “important.” Really. Very few things in life are “emergencies.” Your suffering mind begs to differ, though, and will do a pretty good job convincing you otherwise unless you’re awake, aware and in tune. Unless you are in alignment.

In my humble opinion, your “job” is to follow your bliss and remain in the vortex. The rest is just details.

So today as you walk your path, remember that what you do and say and think matters (this is called “Deliberate Creation”). But what’s most important is that you abide in the vortex. Then the Universe will take care of all the details. It does a better job than we ever do.

Have the best day ever!

Namaste!
