Sometimes, you need a little insanity in your life. Amber, our Health Raiser of the Week, certainly gets a healthy dose of it by (miraculously) getting through Shaun T.’s INSANITY workouts several times a week. Though this is Amber’s preferred method of madness, she encourages others to find their own version of health – no matter how crazy it may seem to others. Here’s more on Amber…
Q: What does health mean to you?
A: The things that are most important to my healthy lifestyle (meaning I use them every single day) include sneakers, a water bottle, Vega One Nutritional Shake, weights, yoga mat and my collection of INSANITY home workouts.
Health is a way of life, and my most favorite way, at that! There isn’t one single definition of health, everyone has a different view and method. That alone is so awesome to me! One specific health routine or lifestyle may be perfect for one person but not for their neighbor. That’s the beauty of it. You find what works for you, what motivates you and what you love doing, and then you live by it.
Q: What inspired you to start living a healthy life?
A: Honestly, my inspiration to start living a healthy life all began with late-night INSANITY infomercials! Oh, and the weight that I gained during college. And, more recently, my stomach started giving me a hard time.
Q: What are three things you do to stay healthy?
A: I almost ALWAYS cook my own food, so I know exactly what I’m putting into my body. I also save a ton of money by not eating out all the time. Fitness is important, too, so I try to workout at least 5-6 days each week. Lastly, I talk about anything relating to health with anyone who will listen.
Q: If you were stranded on an island, what’s the one healthy item you couldn’t live without?
A: I absolutely LOVE the Vega One Nutritional Shake Powder that I purchase from Vitacost! I would most definitely NEED it if I were stranded on an island.
Q: Is there a role model you look up to or a quote you live by?
A: I’m a big fan of Shaun T., best known as the INSANITY fitness trainer. My mom is also a big inspiration for me. She’ll always be my #1 role model!
My favorite quote is so simple: “You can do it!” I strongly advise that you never give up or give in to anyone, especially not yourself. This world doesn’t always make it easy to live healthy, but it’s far from impossible. Once you get into a habit, it’s hard to break it. Even if you feel as if you can’t do something, try to prove yourself wrong – I have no doubt you will!
