When you begin to connect the dots, you see a much bigger picture – and a much more complete one, at that. Carrie, our Vitacost Health Raiser of the Week, suffered with a lot of nagging physical and mental pains until she started to notice patterns. By linking lifestyle choices to life’s reality, Carrie could make informed – and motivated – changes. Grab a pen! You may have a few lines to draw, too.

What does health mean to you?
As a survivor of thyroid cancer and other ups and downs, my definition of health has changed over the years. Health now means having the energy and vitality to do all of the things that I love, including blogging, being outdoors where I live on California’s beautiful central coast and spending time with people I love.
What inspired you to start living a healthy life?
I experienced chronic migraines, allergies and anxiety during most of my young adulthood, and at a certain point I started making connections between food and lifestyle choices and how I felt.
What are three things you do to stay healthy?
- I manage my stress with yoga and plenty of rest.
- I try to get outside as much as possible, and…
- I make a green smoothie almost every morning for breakfast.
What is one motivational quote that you live by?
“Wherever you go, no matter what the weather, always bring your own sunshine.” – Anthony J. D’Angelo
If you were stranded on a desert island, what Vitacost product could you not live without?
I’m a huge fan of Vitacost Organic Cacao Nibs! I add nibs to everything, from smoothies to raw cookies and even to savory dishes for an antioxidant boost and energy kick. They are deliciously addictive!
What advice do you have for someone who is trying to live healthier?
Take inspiration from an ingredient or flavor, and experiment with making your own food…using plenty of Vitacost products, of course.
