What does health mean to you?

Health means being the very best version of yourself, physically and mentally.

What inspired you to start living a healthy life?

After college, I wanted to feel better about myself and have goals to go after. So I started training for my first 5K race, then 10K and half-marathon. I ran my first full marathon this past November. With all the running, I wanted to start eating better to fuel my body to work the most efficiently. Everything works together, from fuel to exercise, so it has to become a lifestyle – and it has!

What are three things you do to stay healthy?

  1. The number one thing I do to stay healthy is run!
  2. I also meal prep every Sunday for the week ahead to ensure that I am eating a clean 80/20 paleo diet.
  3. The third thing I do is detox daily. I begin every morning with two drinks, one made up of fresh-squeezed lemon, raw apple cider vinegar and cayenne pepper. The second drink contains fresh-squeezed lemon, chlorophyll and Himalayan sea salt.

What is one motivational quote that you live by?

Pursue perfection.

If you were stranded on a desert island, what Vitacost product could you not live without?

ARO Whey Protein is my go-to!

What advice do you have for someone who is trying to live healthier?

Health is a way of life, not a fad diet or six-week workout plan. The key thing to remember is that what works for someone else may not work for you. You have to figure out which foods and what types of exercise make your body feel its best. It’s all a process of elimination, and there is no one way to achieve a healthy lifestyle.

Is there a role model you look up to?

I look up to anyone who is engaged in a healthy lifestyle, physically and mentally, and is continually looking for ways to push themselves! Some of my role models include pro runners, Shalane Flanagan and Lauren Fleshman, because they embody perseverance and strength.
