I recently received a question from a reader about diminishing the appearance of freckles and brown spots – something I have personally struggled with for most of my life. Don’t get me wrong, freckles are fine. They’re adorable!
But if you’re looking to even out skin tone and keep new freckles and spots to a minimum, there are a few things you can do:
Brighten your day. For existing spots and dark pigments, try gentle brightening products. I recommend Acure Organics Brightening Facial Sea Scrub – it cleanses, exfoliates and brightens. A little goes a long way, so it’s perfect for daily use. To subdue stubborn spots and discolorations, I like Reviva Labs Night/Day Lightener and Brown Spot Cream – it features a combo pack of nutrient-rich creams for both night and day (what a bargain!).
Cover:
Try mineral makeup. To cover existing spots and freckles, consider switching to mineral makeup, which can be more forgiving than traditional foundation. I like Honeybee Gardens Pressed Mineral Powder because it’s free of talc and parabens.
Prevent:
Stay covered. When you’re heading out to the pool, beach or park, be sure to pack a big, floppy hat and large-rimmed sunglasses. Not only will you look oh-so-fashionable, you’ll prevent new freckles and dark spots from forming.
Block it. While sun spots may seem like just a superficial nuisance, they could be indicative of deeper skin damage – so it’s best to keep them from appearing in the first place! ALWAYS use a broad-spectrum natural sunscreen to protect your face, as well as your arms, shoulders, neck and any other exposed part of your body. Devita Solar Protective Moisturizer SPF 30 is light and non-greasy, so it’s super easy to apply under makeup.
