Less Stuff = Less Stress

As we packed up to leave Europe after spending most of the summer there, I was amazed, once again, at the heaviness of “stuff.”

I’m a light packer. I truly live the quote, “Live light, travel light, spread the light.”

When we opened our second Prana Power Yoga studio, in New York City, I learned real quick how to pack””real light. We had two kids, and one on the way, at the time, and we spent every single weekend in the city for a year. Which meant I packed every Friday morning and unpacked every Sunday night. I got good and fast. Because I had to be.

Then as our family grew (we now have five kids, ages 2 to 14), my BFF gave me a tip for air travel:  Each kid gets one carry-on bag. Total. The end.

Great tip.

When we flew to Europe for the summer I fit my three sons’ and my own stuff in one carry-on bag. So flying over was a breeze. Because it ain’t traveling that’s stressful””it’s the stuff.

Yet, as we were packing up to go home, my stress level rose. I simply couldn’t fit everything in. We’d bought our friends and family so many gifts that, well, the stuff overwhelmed me. I just couldn’t fit it all in our bags.

This is a metaphor for life. The more “stuff” or “baggage” you be carrying, the more stress you’ll carry as well.

Best way to let go of “stuff”? Get on your yoga mat.

Have the best day ever!

Namaste!
