You might have a strong urge to throw something at them – but after one sip of this creamy, maca-powered smoothie, you’re likely to forget all about your co-dependency on caffeine. (No, seriously!) Long revered as a source of nourishment for Andean warriors, maca offers sustained energy to get yourself in gear and keep you going once you get there. Add a sprinkling of low-calorie carob powder (it tastes like chocolate) and a pinch of cayenne for the ultimate wake-up call.

Maca-Carob Smoothie

Ingredients

1/2 cup crushed ice
3/4 cup unsweetened vanilla almond milk (without carrageenan)
2 tsp. coconut oil
1 Tbsp. carob powder
2 tsp. maca powder
Optional: chipotle or cayenne pepper, to taste

Directions

In a blender, combine all ingredients and mix until smooth and creamy.
