Paleoista’s Greens-to-Go Smoothie

by | Updated: December 4th, 2016

Sure, you could pop into a popular juice shop and pick up a beverage to go. But and those tasty and convenient drinks are often lacking something that really matters: balance. While an all-green juice can be a smart addition to a meal, more often than not, what you’re getting is a whopping dose of sugar without any healthy fat, protein or fiber to balance it out. Fortunately, this problem is easily remedied!

Paleoista's Greens-to-Go Kale Smoothie Recipe

By making your own smoothie at home, you’ll not only save time and money, you’ll be in complete control of what goes into the blender. Here is one of my favorite on-the-go creations, which is teeming with antioxidant-rich fruits and veggies, protein-packed seeds, anti-inflammatory spices and superfood powder. You can’t go wrong with this meal that can be sipped with a straw!

Paleoista’s Greens-to-Go Smoothie

Ingredients

8 oz. chilled brewed tea of choice (such as green tea)
1 cup raw, organic baby kale, spinach or greens of choice
1/2 small ripe organic avocado
2 large farm-fresh eggs (from pastured hens*)
1 cup frozen organic berries
1 Tbsp. maca powder
1 Tbsp. chia seeds
Ground turmeric, to taste
Ground ginger, to taste
Cinnamon, to taste
Ground nutmeg, to taste

Directions

  1. In high-speed blender or food processor, combine all ingredients and whiz until smooth and frothy.

*If you are concerned about consuming raw egg, they may also be soft boiled and chilled before adding to your smoothie. Alternatively, there are several good protein powder options that can be used.
