Popcorn is a perfect light, crunchy summertime snack. Plus, it only costs about 16 cents per serving-–you can’t beat that when you’ve got a bunch of hungry kids hanging out at home. Rather than oil and the traditional stovetop method, I like to use an air popper, which I place outside to keep the heat (and the kids) out of the kitchen. After popping up a big batch, I sprinkle on one of my homemade seasoning blends to transform boring, plain-old puffs into a super satisfying sweet or savory snack.

Most of these seasonings require nothing more than a simple shake over a bowl of fresh-popped corn. For others, flavor is enhanced by tossing popcorn with a tablespoon or two of melted butter or your favorite oil (I like coconut oil for sweet blends and olive or canola oil for the savory blends).
Always toss your popcorn in a bag or bowl twice the size of the batch for best coating. And just so you know, the savory blends also work well for seasoning roasted vegetables (especially cauliflower and Brussels sprouts). Enjoy!
