A traditionally sweet side dish gets a savory spin in this recipe for mashed sweet potatoes. Creamed with nutty almond milk, then lightly seasoned with cumin and coriander, these zesty bright-orange potatoes will be the talk of your holiday table.

Savory Smashed Sweet Potatoes
Serves 8
Ingredients
3 lbs. sweet potatoes, peeled and cut into 1-inch pieces
1 Tbsp. butter
3/4 cup almond milk
1 tsp. sea salt
1/4 tsp. freshly ground white pepper
1/8 tsp. cumin
1/8 tsp. coriander
Directions
1. Place potatoes in a large pot covered with water. Bring water to a boil. Reduce heat; simmer for 25 minutes or until sweet potatoes are soft.
2. Drain water; add remaining ingredients to the sweet potatoes; mash with a fork until smooth.
3. Serve warm.
