You can have too many snow days. After hours of craft projects, hundreds of cartoons and one giant fort in your living room, you’re running out of ideas to keep the kids entertained. So here’s one more: Slow cooker hot cocoa. While the recipe isn’t actually that slow (30 minutes tops!), the smell of chocolate will certainly get everyone to stop in their tracks. And if you really want a crowd around the kitchen, set up a kid-approved toppings bar to create custom mugs all around. With so many sweet smiles, the extra snowfall won’t bother anyone.

2 Cups of Slow Cooker Hot Cocoa Recipe with Cinnamon Sticks & Other Toppings | Vitacost.com/blog

Ingredients

1 cup unsweetened cocoa 
3 cups unsweetened vanilla almond milk
1/2 cup coconut butter
2 tsp. cinnamon
Cayenne pepper to taste
Drop of pure liquid stevia (optional)
1/4 tsp. ground cardamom (optional)

Directions

  1. In a slow cooker, add all ingredients and bring to a simmer.
  2. Reduce to low and cook approximately 20 minutes.
