The Comforts of Home

Quotes of the day:

“Home isn’t a place, its a feeling”

“• Cecelia Ahern

I was recently in California, teaching at David Wolfe’s Longevity Now conference. And I was in my hotel room, all by myself. Sans my five kiddos and husband.

To say it was weird is an understatement. I haven’t experienced that much quiet since”¦ well, I don’t remember when. How ’bout never? Yeah, that sounds about right.

I had brought some Yerba mate tea with me””the one from Eco Teas. It’s my favorite. It’s organic and fair trade and so delicious. And it doesn’t give you that crazy caffeine buzz that other caffeinated teas do. I really do love it, as evidenced by my bringing it with me across the country.

I also brought some packets of Just Like Sugar, which I’ve written about before. This says a lot because I only travel with one carry-on bag. I believe in traveling light, living light and spreading the light.

As I sat there in my oh-so-quiet hotel room without my children and my husband, missing them, with my tea brewing in a little coffee pot, I thought to myself, “Oh, so this is what they mean by the comforts of home.”

Sometimes, you just don’t “get” clichés like that until something hits you. I’d heard that one my whole life, but had never really got it until that moment.

And as I sipped that Yerba mate tea, sweetened just right with Just Like Sugar, I smiled and thought, “Yeah, the comforts of home. I’m glad I schlepped this tea across the country.”

Have the best day ever!

Namaste!
