What’s hot (and not) in health today? Let’s explore the latest health trends and info.

Hot:

Hops extract. It’s great for making beer, but did you know that hops can also promote healthy relaxation? Instead of cracking open a can of booze at bedtime, try a few drops of hops in water or club soda to help you unwind.

Lemongrass oil. Summertime brings many things – including bugs. Instead of slathering on sunscreen and insect repellent, make your own bug-be-gone concoction by adding a few drops of lemongrass oil to your favorite natural sunscreen.

Garbanzo beans: Not all carbs are bad! These round beans (also known as chickpeas) are considered a resistant starch, meaning they make it all the way through the small intestine without being digested. The result? You feel fuller, longer. Incorporate more garbanzo beans into your diet by whipping up this quick and delicious hummus recipe.

Not:

Sugary energy drinks. It’s no surprise that sugar-laden energy drinks aren’t exactly healthy. But a recent study showed that excessive consumption of these beverages may cause irreversible damage to tooth enamel – even after as little as 5 days!

If you’re feeling sluggish, try sipping on green tea, or a sugar-free energy drink powered by vitamins and natural herbs.
