And you know that once you’ve had one, you want more, and onto the sugar merry-go-round you go, with never-ending cravings spinning you through the weeks. What can you do to make a more healthful, delicious dessert? Try this simple freezer fudge, made with pure cacao powder, nutritious nut butter and natural maple syrup — not sugar — as the sweetener.
Ingredients
2 cups almond butter
¼ cup cacao powder or carob powder
¼- ½ cup maple syrup or agave syrup
1 tsp. coconut oil or macadamia nut oil
1 Tbsp. vanilla extract
1 tsp. salt
Optional: 2 Tbsp. puffed rice, crushed walnuts or coconut flakes
Directions
- In large bowl, combine all ingredients and mix until smooth.
- Pour mixture into a baking pan lined with waxed paper or well-oiled with coconut oil.
- Freeze fudge for about an hour.
- Remove from freezer, cut into squares and serve with a strawberry or raspberry on top.
- Fudge can be stored in an airtight container in the freezer.
