Sweating bullets yet? An iced-cold smoothie might cool you down. Or, maybe you need a light and airy salad to fill you up without filling you out. We like eating seasonally, so our summers are full of cherries, avocados and — the season’s essential — coconut water. With these ingredients, we can have a summer refresher ready in minutes.

Chilled-Out Summer Recipes

Coco-Cacao Protein Chiller

Serves 2

1 cup coconut water
1 fresh or frozen banana
1 cup fresh or frozen mixed berries (no strawberries for us)
1 cup fresh or frozen cherries
2 Tbsp. raw cacao powder
2 Tbsp. coconut oil
2 scoops whey protein powder
Cinnamon to taste (be generous)

Directions: Put all ingredients in a blender and mix until thoroughly combined and consistency is thick like a smoothie.

Sweet & Savory Summer Greens

Serves 2

1/2 cup cabbage
1/2 cup spinach
1/2 cup arugula
1/2 cup Mesclun
1/2 cup  raisins
1 Granny Smith apple, diced
1 avocado, diced
4 Tbsp. hemp seeds
3-4 Tbsp. organic vinaigrette

Directions: In a large bowl, mix greens, raisins and the apple and avocado pieces. Sprinkle hemp seeds on top and toss with vinaigrette. Serve immediately.

*Tip: If making ahead, skip the avocado and vinaigrette until ready to serve.
