For some, health and fitness comes naturally. Others can’t stand the sheer thought of exercising or giving up their favorite indulgences. Offering a cool, calm and totally collected perspective on living healthy is our Health Raiser of the Week, Daniel. He channels his inner Will Smith to bring positivity to everything he does in hopes that his energy catches fire. 

Daniel Knows How to Raise Health and Stay Positive

What does health mean to you?

Health is a lifestyle and a smart way to extend your life with a lower chance of medical issues as you age.

What inspired you to start living a healthy life?

Growing up in Jamaica, most of our food was locally grown. That really made an impact on me and the way I look at food. I’m not saying I live the most perfect, healthy life, but I’m conscientious of my intake. I believe in balance in all aspects of my life. It’s not a cheat meal if you know how to balance you diet.

What are three things you do to stay healthy?

  1. I surround myself with like-minded people.
  2. I set an alarm on my phone to remind me when to work out and when to eat.
  3. I try to stay active during the weekends, when the motivation is really hard to come by.

If you were stranded on an island, what’s the one healthy item you couldn’t live without?

I can’t stop snacking on Ziggy Marley’s Hemp Organic Roasted Hempseeds in Caribbean Crunch flavor.

What advice do you have for someone who is trying to live healthier?

If there’s any one piece of advice I could pass along it would be to create a buddy system. With strong support to keep you in check, it’s so much easier to live healthier.

Is there a role model you look up to or a quote you live by?

I’ve always wanted to be an actor, and Will Smith has influenced me to keep doing what I love. He has spread so many positive messages worldwide. I even follow Will Smith’s workout plans.
