My house is not a house. It’s actually a zoo.
OK, maybe that’s a bit of an exaggeration. With four demanding felines and one sassy, cat-like canine under our roof, it sure feels like a zoo sometimes. We love all of our pets like family, but their fur gets everywhere. And even with constant vacuuming, it’s hard to keep up.
That is, until I discovered the Kong Zoom Groom.
If it sounds serious, that’s because it’s seriously effective. This magical piece of rubber is developed to safely, comfortably and gently get rid of your pet’s loose hair — you know, the hair that usually falls off and makes its way to your floors, furniture and favorite sweater. As an added bonus, it delivers a purr-inducing massage as you brush.
If you’re wondering if it really works, hear me out. As I mentioned above, we have four (yes, four!) cats and a shiba inu, a canine breed known for its thick, wiry hair and an undercoat that falls out in clumps at least twice a year. Thanks to regular brushing, their coats look wonderful — and so does my furniture!
The dog doesn’t seem to mind the brush’s adorable cat shape – in fact, all of the animals actually enjoy being brushed. I wouldn’t be surprised if they started begging for it!
3 Tips to Help Stop Shedding
In addition to regular light brushings with the FURminator, what else can you do to stop the shedding madness?
- High-quality food: Just like in humans, a pet’s external well-being is often a reflection of internal health. Feeding your furry friends high-quality pet food free of unnecessary fillers is a great start.
- Supplements: There are several nutrients that may support a shiny, healthy coat — including omega-3 essential fatty acids. You can find omega-3s in both supplement and treat form, for cats and dogs.
- Bath time: A clean coat is a healthy coat. But because bathing recommendations vary based on your dog’s breed, be sure to do some research first. Use a gentle shampoo that nourishes your pet’s coat. For pets that don’t require regular bathing, try a waterless shampoo.
