Every year we make New Year’s Resolutions about our health, our weight, our organizational skills, our disposition and so on and so forth. We vow we’ll take better care of ourselves, be nicer to strangers and spend more time with our loved ones. But how often do these resolutions include our pets? Yep, that’s what I thought.

Pamper your pooch with natural pet products from Vitacost.com.

Don’t beat yourself up over it. If you recall, my house is a veritable menagerie of wildlife with three dogs, two hermit crabs and now two betta fish (we seem to be running a home for wayward bettas), and I haven’t made a resolution about them one single time.

This year, I propose we resolve to take better care of our furry, finned and scaled friends.

Get those supplements you’ve been meaning to pick up for your aging dog to help support his hips. Start investing in better quality food for her and go out for walks more often. And save yourself from the scary and expensive process of repairing tooth decay by stocking up on treats that help with dental hygiene like Greenies and a tooth brush..

Be prepared this year for those pesky bugs that come with the warm weather of spring and summer by having a game plan for your cat’s flea and tick prevention. Try out some new all natural treats to make your fur-baby purr with pride and grab some new toys for him or her, like this Ethical Pet Products Pet Laser that will provide hours of entertainment for you both.

These simple, thoughtful New Year’s Resolutions will having you beaming with pride when people ask, “What are your resolutions this year?”, especially when you find come February 1, you’re still going strong. Because the best way to keep yourself committed is to look into those sweet, trusting eyes and know they’re counting on you to keep them happy, healthy and safe.
