Apple & Peanut Butter Canine “Candy Canes”
Ingredients
- 1-1/2 cups oat flour
- 1/2 cup applesauce unsweetened
- 3 Tbsp. peanut butter
- 2 Tbsp. flaxseed meal
- 2 Tbsp. water
- 1 Tbsp. beet root powder
- 1/4 tsp. xanthan gum
Instructions
-
Preheat oven to 325 degrees F. Line cookie sheet with parchment paper or non-stick baking mat.
-
In medium bowl, combine all ingredients except beet root powder. Mix well.
-
Divide dough. Sprinkle beet root powder into one half. Blend powder in thoroughly until color is smooth. (Note: If dough feels too dry, add 1/2-1 teaspoon of water for easier blending.)
-
In small increments, roll out each dough ball into a long rope to desired thickness.
-
Gently twist ropes together. Cut into desired lengths and pinch ends together.
-
Place on cookie sheet and curve end of each treat to create the hook of the candy cane.
-
Bake 20-30 minutes or until treats look very dry. For softer treats, bake for less time.
-
Transfer onto wire rack and let cool completely.
