Both the bran and the germ have been removed leaving the endosperm that is made into white flour. Organic Unbleached White Flour is not enriched and is unbleached and unbromated. This is the same high protein flour used by professional bakers and produces high, well-textured loaves of bread.

Millionaire Shortbread

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]When a typical shortbread just won’t do, try the recipe that looks and tastes like a million bucks. Millionaire shortbread comes by its name honestly – it’s dense, sweet and dressed to kill with three beautiful layers. Homemade shortbread supports a generous layer of brown-sugar caramel and is topped with a creamy ganache. Chill completely before slicing for a slick layered look. A Plate Holds a Stack of Millionaire Shortbread Slices With a Few Scattered Around the Plate.

Millionaire Shortbread

Shortbread

  • 1 cup butter (softened)
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 egg yolks
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour

Caramel

  • 2 cans sweetened condensed milk
  • 1-1/4 cups brown sugar
  • 3/4 cup butter (sliced)
  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 1/4 tsp. salt

Chocolate Topping

  • 8 oz. semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/4 cup heavy whipping cream
  • Sea salt flakes
  1. To make crust, add shortbread ingredients to medium bowl and combine. (Note: Dough should be crumbly.)
  2. Press shortbread into bottom of 9x13 pan.
  3. Bake at 350 degrees F for 23 minutes or until edges are golden. Let cool.
  4. To make caramel, add condensed milk, brown sugar and butter to saucepan.
  5. Bring to boil then reduce to low-medium heat. Stir frequently for 10 minutes.
  6. Pour caramel over cooled shortbread and refrigerate.
  7. To make ganache, microwave chocolate chips with heavy cream for 60 seconds. Continue microwaving in 30-second increments as needed.
  8. Pour ganache over caramel and top with sea salt flakes.
  9. Refrigerate at least two hours or overnight before slicing and serving.
