Cascara Sagrada means sacred bark and comes from the bark of a tree in northwestern America. It is used for the relief of occasional constipation.
This tree or shrub is also called frangula purshiana, and belongs to the Rhamnaceae family. It can be found primarily in the Pacific Northwest, as far south as central California and as far north as southern British Columbia. The shrub's natural growth area also extends eastward, to northwestern areas of Montana.

Native to the Mediterranean region, this plant can be found in Portugal, along with Iran and southern France. It is considered to be a weed in some parts of the world, including North America. As part of the Asteraceae family, the plant is also called spotted thistle.
Take 2 to 5 capsules per day. Use the smallest number required to provide comfort. Take two to three times per week. If results are not observed, increase frequency to daily. Allow up to 12 hours for effect to occur. Do not take for longer than 30 days at a time.
