Millionaire Shortbread
When a typical shortbread just won’t do, try the recipe that looks and tastes like a million bucks. Millionaire shortbread comes by its name honestly – it’s dense, sweet and dressed to kill with three beautiful layers. Homemade shortbread supports a generous layer of brown-sugar caramel and is topped with a creamy ganache. Chill completely before slicing for a slick layered look.

Shortbread
- 1 cup butter (softened)
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 2 egg yolks
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
Caramel
- 2 cans sweetened condensed milk
- 1-1/4 cups brown sugar
- 3/4 cup butter (sliced)
- 1 tsp. vanilla extract
- 1/4 tsp. salt
Chocolate Topping
- 8 oz. semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1/4 cup heavy whipping cream
- Sea salt flakes
- To make crust, add shortbread ingredients to medium bowl and combine. (Note: Dough should be crumbly.)
- Press shortbread into bottom of 9x13 pan.
- Bake at 350 degrees F for 23 minutes or until edges are golden. Let cool.
- To make caramel, add condensed milk, brown sugar and butter to saucepan.
- Bring to boil then reduce to low-medium heat. Stir frequently for 10 minutes.
- Pour caramel over cooled shortbread and refrigerate.
- To make ganache, microwave chocolate chips with heavy cream for 60 seconds. Continue microwaving in 30-second increments as needed.
- Pour ganache over caramel and top with sea salt flakes.
- Refrigerate at least two hours or overnight before slicing and serving.
