A Classic Fajita Simmer Sauce that's perfectly seasoned with well-proportioned notes of chili, bell pepper, onion, cumin and smoked paprika, for flavor that's equally delicious with beef and chicken. Craft fajitas with a pleasantly smoky chili heat that builds. Serve with warm tortillas, sour cream, guacamole, salsa and cheese.
A Tex-Mex favorite, the original fajita is credited to ranch workers who marinated skirt steak to tenderize it, then grilled it and wrapped the finished product in flour tortillas to serve. The word fajita comes from Spanish, meaning little belt — a reference to the thin strips of meat used to make the dish. The meal changed as restaurants began to offer fajitas as we know them: chicken or beef served on sizzling cast-iron skillets paired with onions, peppers, sour cream and salsa.

You Will Need
» 1 small onion, thinly sliced
» 1 small green bell pepper, sliced
» 1 small red bell pepper, sliced
» 1 pound boneless chicken or trimmed steak, sliced into strips
» 3 tbsp oil
» 1 pouch Simply Organic Fajita Simmer Sauce
Heat 1 tbsp oil in large skillet over medium-high heat. Add onion and peppers. Cook until golden and crisp-tender, stirring occasionally, about 3 minutes. Remove to a plate.
Add 2 tbsp oil and the chicken or steak. Cook until golden, stirring occasionally, about 4 minutes.
Add cooked vegetables and sauce to skillet. Mix until thoroughly coated and heat to a simmer. Stir until meat is cooked through. Serve in warm tortillas.
If desired, serve with salsa, sour cream, guacamole or cheese. Squeeze fresh lime over fajitas for an added fresh note.
