Life Extension Branched Chain Amino Acids Free Form Description

  • Hepatoprotection

The branched chain amino acids L-valine, L-leucine, and L-isoleucine enhance protein synthesis in liver cells and muscle cells. Because they can be oxidized in the cell's mitochondria, the branched chain amino acids may also provide energy and may serve as fuel sources for skeletal muscles during periods of metabolic stress. As a result, BCAAs have been used with success to support liver function.

5 Ways to Help the Guy in Your Life to Stay Healthy

When it comes to well-being, men have unique needs and some special health concerns that differ from those of women. Whether it’s your father, husband, brother, son or another family member – or just a guy friend – there are things you can do to help him get (and stay healthy). Here are five suggestions for supporting the health and vitality of the man in your life.

Recommend the right multivitamin.

We all know that eating a healthy diet is paramount to good health. But did you know that if your guys takes a good multivitamin – one specifically designed for men – it can help not only fill in nutrition gaps but also provide the assurance that he’s getting what he needs most to promote his well-being.

Besides supplying basic vitamins and minerals, multivitamins for men might include antioxidants, amino acids, fruit and vegetable blends, herbal extracts and other nutrients included to promote overall wellness and target some areas of concern to men, such as cardio or prostate health.

Encourage herbal support.

A man’s prostate can enlarge as he ages. This is typically a benign phenomenon, but it can result in changes in urination habits. Herbs like saw palmetto and Pygeum africanum are known to help support the health of a man’s prostate. Saw palmetto can support normal prostate size and healthy urine flow, and decades of research on this herb show its safety and efficacy. Pygeum africanum also contains natural plant sterols and fatty acids that are additionally supportive of prostate health. Consider a prostate health supplement with both herbs.*

Sprinkle on pumpkin seeds.

Pumpkin seeds are chock full of zinc, an especially important mineral for men. Zinc supports prostate health, sperm motility and testosterone metabolism. It’s also important for immune health. Besides making pumpkin seeds a regular part of his diet, your guy could take a men’s supplement that contains pumpkin seed oil.

Rev up his libido.

At times a man may need a little extra help to revive a once-robust libido. Men who are chronically stressed often experience a waning libido as a result of their adrenal glands being in high gear much of the time. And if a man doesn’t get adequate sleep, he doesn’t benefit from the restorative rest he needs to be at his peak.

Taking a natural male enhancement supplement can help with male performance and desire during stressful periods. Ideally, the formula will contain ingredients such as maca (an herb used for centuries in Peru to support energy, stamina and libido), Tribulus terrestris (a tropical herb used to support many aspects of health, including libido), yohimbe extract (an African herb used traditionally as an aphrodisiac) and the amino acid GABA, or gamma-aminobutyric acid, which acts as a calming neurotransmitter in the brain.*

Make muscle a priority,

The man in your life can gain an extra edge with branched-chain amino acids (BCAAs). They help maintain lean muscle mass and promote muscle recovery after vigorous exercise and sports activities. They can also assist with maintaining optimal performance during exercise, by supporting muscle tissue in ways that help prevent it from breaking down. BCAAs may also promote healthy testosterone and cortisol levels. A BCAA supplement will contain the amino acids L-leucine, L-valine, and L-isoleucine in optimal levels. For best results, BCCAs should be taken before or during exercise, or between meals.
