NOW Lecithin Granules Non-GMO Description

  • Non-GMO
  • Essential Nutrient
  • Naturally Occurring Phosphatidyl Choline & Other Phosphatides
  • Identity Preserved
  • Kosher
  • Vegetarian / Vegan

Lecithin is a naturally occurring compound found in all cells in nature, plant and animal. The word Lecithin is taken from the Greek Lekithos, which means "egg yolk". A fitting name for this essential nutrient, for the egg is considered a symbol of life, strength and fertility.

Our brain is approximately 30% Lecithin. The insulating myelin sheaths that protect the brain, spine and thousands of miles of nerves in your body are almost two-thirds Lecithin. Even the heart has a high concentration of Lecithin. Lecithin is composed of many naturally occurring components, including Choline, Inositol, Linoleic Acid, Phosphatidyl Serine, fatty acids and triglycerides. NOW® Non-GMO Lecithin Granules are derived entirely from Non-Genetically Modified soybeans that have been Identity Preserved (IP). This guarantees that the soybean are from seedstock that has been certified as non-GMO.

2 Detoxifying Drinks to Start Fresh This Spring

Ever feel like you need to reboot your body? Whether it’s from last night’s pizza and wine binge or a winter’s worth of hibernating at home, you can make a comeback. Detoxing is a great way to jump-start a new diet plan, a new exercise routine or a cleaner lifestyle all around. The warmth and vibrancy of spring couldn’t be a better time to make the change. If you’ve never endured a thorough body cleanse, however, you’ll want to ease into it. Stick to only a day or two of detoxing, and keep it simple with these refreshing drinks that hydrate and nourish you along the way.

Freshen Up with a Spring Detox Drink

Fruity Detox

Fruit is a natural detox choice, because it provides a great array of vitamins and minerals, plus fiber. You’ll get all of that goodness and more, thanks to the addition of essential fatty acids from flax oil. The Greek yogurt offers some satiating protein, as well as good-for-you bacteria (aka probiotics). This fruity detox can be enjoyed any time of day.

Ingredients

4 oz. water
8 oz. orange juice (fresh, if available)
1 Tbsp. spirulina powder
1 Tbsp. flax oil
1 Tbsp. lecithin granules
1/2 banana
1/2 cup strawberries (frozen works best)
1/2 cup plain Greek yogurt
1 Tbsp. fresh lemon juice
1 small garlic clove
1/2 inch ginger slice

Directions: Going in the order they’re listed above, place all ingredients in a high-speed blender and process until smooth.

Ginger Detox Tea

You’ve probably never had tea like this before. It’s sweet, spicy and tangy. Cayenne pepper lends some serious kick to help get the blood flowing. Drink this first thing in the morning or mid-afternoon when you start to feel sluggish.

Ingredients

2 tsp. ginger powder
2 tsp. turmeric powder
3 lemons, quartered + 1 lemon, sliced
2 quarts of water

Directions

  1. In a juicer or blender, combine ginger, turmeric and lemon chunks.
  2. Pour water into a large pitcher.
  3. Pour lemon-spice mixture into pitcher. Add stevia and cayenne pepper to taste.
  4. Toss in sliced lemon and stir with a large wooden spoon.
  5. Let stand at least 10 minutes before serving.
