Vitacost Certified Organic Cold-Milled Flaxseed is cold milled, meaning seeds are not crushed or ground but rather milled, leaving as much natural oil as possible within natural cell walls to retain maximum nutritional value.

 

To use, simply mix into yogurt, oatmeal, soups or other spoonable foods; sprinkle it on salads or snacks; or use it in cooking or baking (omelets, homemade breads and more). It has a light, wholesome, nutty flavor.

Dark Chocolate-Oat Dessert Balls

  • ½ cup oats
  • ½ cup coconut flakes
  • 1 Tbsp. ground flax
  • 3 Tbsp. cocoa powder
  • 8 pitted dates (soaked in hot water for 5 minutes)
  • 1 Tbsp. coconut oil
  • 2 Tbsp. water
  • ½ cup oats (for rolling)
  1. In food processor, pulse together oats, coconut flakes, flax and cocoa powder.
  2. Add dates, coconut oil, and water. Pulse to combine.
  3. Use a tablespoon to scoop batter, then roll into ball and place on plate. Repeat for remaining batter.
  4. In dry skillet over medium-low heat, toast remaining oat until they’re golden brown (about 5 minutes).
  5. Roll balls into toasted oats.
  6. Chill until firm before serving.
